Press Communiqué - Pre-mature Dissolvement of Two Provincial Councils

Two Provincial Councils in North Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces have been dissolved with effect from 12.00 mid night of 9th June 2008. The government has not given a specific reason as to why the two Provincial Councils which could have functioned officially till the August of 2009, were dissolved in advance of more than one year.
