1.   ALL ISLAND INTER-SCHOOLS QUIZ CONTEST
PAFFREL organizes an all-island inter-schools quiz contest on Human Rights and Good Governance to commemorate the Universan Human Rights Day, falls on 10th December. This is the 7th consecutive year PAFFREL organizes this programme.

2.  LOCAL TSUNAMI RELIEF FACILITY PROJECT
This is a one year rapid project undertook by PAFFREL with the support of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The project implements in14 local government areas of four tsunami affected districts of Matara, Hambantota, Ampara and Batticaloa. The focus of this project is to facilitate the tsunami affected people in the project area to find solution for their unsolved community problems and to address the problematic issues relate to Tsunami victims in the service providing local government authorities. This project has no. of activities covering a range of different aspects including youth exchange, gender equity, vigilance for human trafficking, community empowerment, women empowerment, and technical support for local authorities etc

3.   PROJECT TO ENHANCE CITIZENS’ AWARENESS ON THEIR RIGHTS
PAFFREL had been conducted this project from October 2007 to September 2008. The objectives of the project were to enhance awareness in democratic rights, rights of minority groups and the rights of women, and in the mechanisms that are in place for seeking remedies in cases of violation of rights., to contribute to creation of social harmony by observance of the rights and entitlements of every citizen without discrimination on the basis of sex, ethnicity, language, religion / caste and to enhance the capacity of local communities to get together and work for common good.
