In three separate letters PAFFREL urges The President, The Commissioner of Elections and the Minister of Local Governments and Provincial Councils to hold the 2009 Provincial Council Elections on a single day, instead of organizing them on different dates that will minimize the election violence and cost a lot for this country.

The letter addressed to the President of Sri Lanka, HE Mahinda Rajapakse, PAFFREL urges him to appoint the Constitutional Council and the Independent Election Commission immediately.
