Prize Giving of the Quiz Contest to be held on 10^th December 2005

For the fort consecutive year, PAFFREL conducted an all-island inter-school quiz contest among the Advance Level students on the theme of Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance. More than 800 schools and over 2,000 students took part for this contest representing all the districts in the country.

The prize giving of the Quiz Contest 2005 will be held on 10^th December at the New Town Hall, Colombo. December 10^th is the Universal Human Rights Day and this programme will also commemorate this very important day. Eminent personalities including Deshabandu Karu Jayasuriya – The Opposition Leader, Dr. A.T. Ariyarathne – President of Sarvodaya Movement, Mr. Susil Prem Jayanth – Minister of Education, Mr. Dayananda Dissanayake – The Elections Commissioner and Mr. Dauglas Devananda – Secretary General of EPDP will be attended for the event.      

Over 500 winners and teachers representing their schools will be participated for the prize giving. The financial support for this programme was provided by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Danish Refugee Council (DRC). Independent Television Network, Lakhanda radio and Lake House Publications provide the media sponsorship.
